She realised that small businesses needed more than just a website; they needed a comprehensive brand strategy that would set them apart from the competition.

She emphasises the importance of understanding that branding is not about conforming to a mold; it’s about celebrating what makes your business unique. Donita encourages her clients to be authentic and to share their dreams and values openly. By doing so, they can create a brand that truly represents who they are and what they stand for.

The offer refinement phase

Before diving into branding, Donita believes in the importance of refining what a business offers to its target market. She calls this phase “Offer Refinement.” It involves clarifying what the business provides to its customers. If a business’s offerings are unclear, branding efforts won’t be effective.

Building an internal brand

Donita’s branding process starts by building the internal brand. This includes crafting the mission statement, brand values, vision statement, and defining the purpose of the brand. These internal aspects are essential in guiding a business’s branding strategy.

The power of audience persona

Understanding the target audience is a crucial element of branding. Donita works with clients to create audience personas, diving deep into demographics, psychographics, challenges, pain points, and emotional connections. This information helps tailor marketing and branding efforts to connect with the intended audience on a personal level.

Living your brand

The brand guidelines document

A physical reminder

Donita takes her commitment to building lasting relationships seriously, especially with international clients. To bridge the gap created by distance, she sends her clients a physical copy of the Brand Guidelines. This physical reminder helps reinforce the importance of branding in their everyday activities.
