Marketing communication (some people call it promotional marketing), is using marketing techniques and tactics to communicate the value of a product or service to customers. It helps to inform, persuade, and remind customers about the product or service, and ultimately drive sales and revenue. Tone, voice, language used etc all needs to be consistent in all channels.
Marketing communication can take many forms, including advertising, public relations, personal selling, sales promotion, social media marketing, content marketing, and direct marketing. These items can be used individually or in combination, depending on the target audience and the marketing goals of the business.
Effective marketing communication involves:
- identifying the target audience (using research),
- crafting a compelling message that resonates with them, and
- using the most appropriate channels to deliver that message (where your target market go/interact with).
It requires careful planning and execution. Some business will engage a marketing agencies or other partners to design and implement the marketing campaigns.
